To begin, here’s what a youth entrepreneur will need:

  • Sacks: Strong, breathable sacks (preferably 50kg size).

  • Soil Mix: A blend of loam, compost, and dry manure for nutrients and drainage.

  • Yam Seedlings/Minisetts: Selected from high-yield varieties like TDr 89/02665 or white yam (Dioscorea rotundata).

  • Basic Tools: Watering cans, trowels, gloves, and shade nets (optional).

Cost per sack can range from ₦500–₦1,000 ($0.50–$1.00), depending on local prices. With 100 sacks, one can start a pilot project for as little as ₦50,000–₦100,000 ($50–$100).
